2016 Saroyan Prize Winners

The Libraries' Communications and Development Office publishes issues of ReMix: The Stanford University Libraries Newsletter, a monthly newsletter created to inform readers about distinctive aspects of SUL including its collections and services, media coverage about SUL, and campus events of possible interest.

A Centennial Celebration, Symposium, and Exhibition at Stanford

Jack London (January 12, 1876- November 22, 1916) was a prolific turn of the century author and journalist best known for his adventure novels set in the great American West. His novels, including The Call of the Wild, White Fang, and Martin Eden, placed London among the most celebrated western authors of his time. London was also a leading journalist and an outspoken socialist. He authored about 300 short stories, novels, poems, and articles during his brief 40 years of life.

The Chinese Typewriter: The Design and Science of East Asian Information Technology exhibit was featured in the Los Angeles Times and the Chicago Tribune. In this exhibition, the history of modern East Asian information technology is explored through artifacts from the personal collection of Professor Thomas S. Mullaney (History) and the Stanford East Asia Library. If you haven't had a chance to see the exhibit, it's located in the East Asia Library and is scheduled to end in September.

A mechanism used by sophisticated hackers to gain comprehensive access to Apple iOS devices, including the ability to eavesdrop on all communications, was recently disclosed. All Stanford community members are urged to upgrade their devices to iOS version 9.3.5 as soon as possible to prevent compromise. To upgrade your device, go to: Settings => General => Software Update.
