Barbara Krupa

I’m extremely pleased to announce that Barbara Krupa has accepted the position of Newspaper Digitization Project Manager. Working closely with Collection Development managers and many others across the Stanford University Libraries (SUL) and Hoover, the Newspaper Digitization Project Manager will serve as SUL’s primary point of contact with East View, who will carry out the digitization of SUL’s historical newspaper collections. The focus of the project involves newspaper holdings that are housed in two storage facilities, the Newark warehouse and SAL3 [Stanford Auxiliary Library-3], plus complementary newspaper holdings held by the Hoover Institution Archives and Library, and their replacement by digital surrogates. The Project Manager will be the logistical liaison with the vendor and with other SUL units that are responsible for processing, packing, and shipping of these materials.

A video recording of the 2016 ceremony in Stanford’s Green Library dedicating the Ampex videotape recorder as an IEEE Milestone is available at Engineering and Technology History Wiki, which states: “In 1956, Ampex Corporation of Redwood City, California, introduced the first practical videotape recorder for television stations and networks to produce and time-shift broadcasts, replacing impractical ‘kinescope’ movie film previously used to record TV.

SUL Rosette

On Dec. 5, University IT introduced the Stanford Services Portal, your new location for getting IT support. For now, the portal replaces HelpSU for IT requests only. In the future, more services will make their way into the portal and it will become your single online destination for help, support, and solutions for all types of services across campus.
