Holds and recalls
When the item you want is already checked out to another borrower, you can recall it or place it on hold by clicking the "request" link displayed next to the item in SearchWorks. You may also place holds and recalls in person.
- A hold prevents the current borrower from renewing the item, but does not change the original due date.
- A recall changes an item's due date to one week from the date you place the recall. A SUNet ID is required to recall an item (fee-based borrowers, however, may place holds).
In both cases, we'll email you when the item is returned, and you will have one week to pick it up. If there are multiple requests for a single item, the requests are honored in the order received.
You can view and/or cancel your holds and recalls using MyAccount, or by visiting a circulation desk.
