In addition to its extensive audiovisual and print collections, the Stanford Archive of Recorded Sound also maintains a collection of audio equipment that highlights the development of playback and recording since the turn of the 20th century. At the center of this collection is a magnificent set of historic phonographs, ranging from a 1901 Edison Home A cylinder phonograph to a 1926 Victrola Credenza.

Earlier this year, Tom Cramer, SUL's Chief Technology Strategist, and James Simon, DLSS Systems Architect, presented at the Coalition for Networked Information (CNI) spring 2013 member meeting. CNI is an organization made up of members from 200 institutions focused on digital information technology for the advancement of scholarly communication and the enrichment of intellectual productivity. Their presentation, The Digital Preservation Network: A Report and Discussion on DPN’s Emerging Architecture, System Protocol & Service Model, is now available on CNI's video channels.
