I am thrilled to share that Linnea Shieh became the Head of Terman Engineering Library in March 2024. Linnea had been serving as the Acting Head of Terman since October, while also serving as the Engineering Librarian for Data and Collections and Curator for Linguistics.

Linnea brings a wealth of experience in engineering librarianship, instruction in various disciplines, data analytics in the tech industry, and branch library management to this role. You may also know that Linnea provides collections strategy and oversight across the Science & Engineering Resource Group (SERG) and for central Libraries fund management, making significant contributions to our individual and collective collection development processes and strategies.

Prior to joining Stanford Libraries, Linnea was a Trust & Safety Data Analyst at Google for nine years, and a Biodefense Data Curator at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory for two years. She has a BS in Biological Sciences with Honors from Stanford, and an MLIS from the University of Washington.

A couple of lesser-known facts about Linnea are that as part of her undergrad experience at Stanford, she spent a quarter at Hopkins Marine Station and wrote an honors thesis titled, “Limits and implications of thermal tolerance in the limpet, Lottia digitalis” (this marine science librarian approves!), and now, in her spare time, is principal second violin for the Nova Vista Symphony in Sunnyvale. Please join me in congratulating Linnea Shieh on her new role as Head of Terman Engineering Library!
