Michelle Futornick

I am excited to announce that Michelle Futornick, former Program Manager for Linked Data for Production (LD4P) as well as Project Manager for Stanford Libraries FOLIO Implementation, has been hired into a new, permanent role. She is the first-ever Technical and Access Services Project Manager!

As LD4P Program Manager (2016-2021) Michelle managed a grant-funded multi-institutional initiative to adopt semantic web models for library metadata, with the goal of improving discoverability of library materials. With FOLIO (2021-2023) she managed a major system migration project to implement this open-source library services platform across all Stanford libraries. FOLIO is now live and used by hundreds of staff to acquire, describe, and provide access to millions of library materials. Both of these initiatives have deep roots in Technical and Access Services, so Michelle is particularly well-suited to take on this new role.

Reporting to the Associate University Librarian for Technical and Access Services, the Technical and Access Services Project Manager will manage and collaborate on projects that involve Access Services, Acquisitions, Metadata Services, Preservation, and Remote Storage, and may include stakeholders from other library divisions. She will help us design and implement new and updated services as well as improve existing processes to enhance divisional impact and effectiveness.

Prior to joining Stanford Libraries, Michelle spent 14 years as a News Service Librarian at Stanford University Communications, where she launched the SALLIE (Stanford ALL-Image Exchange) digital asset management system.

Please join me in congratulating Michelle on her new position!
