Borrow from another Ivy Plus library

If an item in our collection is not currently available, we can often get it through expedited delivery from another Ivy Plus library. We have quick access to a collection of over ninety million volumes. 

The Stanford Libraries partnership includes the following libraries:

Search for material you need in SearchWorks. If Stanford’s copy is not available, place a request using the blue Request button. This action will route your request to ILL to see if a copy can be borrowed through BorrowDirect or ILL.

Who is eligible for BorrowDirect

Stanford students, faculty, staff, fellows, and visiting scholars.

What to expect

  • We will email you when your items arrive.

  • Items usually arrive in a week.

  • You can check the status of your request on your My Library Account.

  • Items are loaned for 16 weeks with no renewals.

  • Overdue fines are not charged. Lost item fees of $100 are billed 7 days after the item’s due date. Occasionally, lending libraries may accept replacement copies. In those cases, processing fees may still apply.

  • If the item you are looking for is not in Stanford’s collection, you can request it through Interlibrary Loan.
